Lisbon will receive the EuroHockey Indoor Junior Championship – Men, from January 13th to 15th of 2017. The event, organized by the Portuguese Hockey Federation (FPH) and the European Hockey Federation (EHF) in partnership with the Lisbon City Council, will be held in the Casal Vistoso Municipal Sports Complex.
During the three days of competition, the Portuguese capital will host the 8 best under 21 nations in Europe, in a competition that will display some of the most promising players in Europe.
Portugal qualified for this division in 2013, winning the EuroHockey Indoor Junior Championship II, held in Bratislava, Slovakia. In 2015, in Torun, Poland, Portugal conquered an honoured 6th place among the European elite holding its place in division A, the higher in this category. It is also worth noting that Portugal has not hosted a competition of this importance for the last 15 years, the last one being held in 2002 in the city of Porto.
